Support Article 12: Vote Yes May 4th
Nantucket Youth Lacrosse understands firsthand how important safe and dependable playing fields are for our student athletes. We fully support the Nantucket School Committee’s plan for the renovation of Vito Capizzo Stadium, including the proposed turf fields which will require strict testing to ensure that there are no hazardous materials included in the specific fields to be installed. Based on student usage of the fields, there are simply too many playing hours for a natural grass field to be maintained in a safe way. The School Committee, the maintenance staff, our student athletes, and their concerned parents have been vocal about their support of the fields and we echo their message.
The new stadium plan includes a new track, new field, and updated ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant grandstands so everyone can have the opportunity to come root on the Whalers. The plans will need to be approved by voters at Annual Town Meeting which will take place on May 4th. We encourage everyone who cares about youth sports and community access to be there and to vote in favor of the new stadium plans.
Go Whalers!
